Out of impulse, I decided to join the SMU table tennis team on their last training session and 3 days later, Im playing in the IVP inter-varsity competition.
And the crazier thing is that we actually have a very realistic chance of advancing into the semi finals.
Reason why I say this is because the whole team looks like a bunch of misfits. The kind of team you see in Dodgeball or D12-Mighty Ducks. Of the 12-member squad, only 4 of us, including me, have had experience in school competitions. The rest of the team comprises of Blangadeshi, Indian, HK, and China students, all of whom are really amateurs in the game. And the problem with so many foreign students is that team talks have to be done twice. Once in chinese and the other in english.
And whereas our opponents train 2-3 times a week, I have only played twice in 4 yrs.
And I have won my matches so far. =)
