Something to brighten up your day

Here's hopefully something to brighten up your day.

My friend narrated a real life story to me:

He knows of an insurance agent who isn't doing too well. In fact, she's doing terribly.

He speculates it could be her name...

Annie How

Damn disappointing lah.

The comic premise of this animated movie held so much promise-- A group of pampered and overcivilized mammals finding themselves stranded in the tangled wilderness.

But sadly, Madasgascar is remarkably average and humor superficial. The story is seriously as thin as the flesh on a supermodel's backside.

It's basically a series of pop culture spoofs. The theme to Hawaii Five-O is followed by Born Free and Saturday Night Fever, and then references to both Castaway and, of all things, American Beauty.

Only the penguins are worth watching. They are an organized mayhem incarnate, a quartet that schemes and prance around with hilarious, deadpan gusto.

"We don't belong here,"they whisper. "It's just not natural."

Well, the next time I'm at the zoo, I will keep an eye on the penguins. They are probably up to something.

Against all odds

This has to be one of the greatest football stories ever told.

A match of unrelenting drama, full of wonderful goals, fine artistry, a Liverpool comeback which ranks as one of the most remarkable in the history of football, the drama of extra-time and a magical, oh so magical, penalty shoot-out.

Jerzy Dudek and his wobbly-legged dance which confused the Milan penalty-takers?! -- Unbelievable.

And as much as I hate to admit it, Liverpool are the European Champions. Deservedly. Gloriously.

Marriages

Son: Is it true, Dad, that in some places of China a man doesn't know his wife until he marries her?
Dad: That happens in every country son.

You could have been the President of the United States of America too

Maybe this goes to show the (lack of) importance of SATs.

But George W.Bush would have been rejected by the Singapore Management University should he had applied here.

( He got 1206 by the way.)

When you piss upon A Star

"Maybe I should give more scholarships to non-Singaporeans who are bright, eager and hungry, and then help them get Singapore passports. The rest, I give to the A-Level girls at 19 years old."
-- A-Star Chairman Philip Yeo

Some poeple seek controversy, some attract it, some are oblivious to it, and the normal majority maintain a healthy distance from it.

I think Mr. Yeo falls into all of the first 3 categories.

The best gift my life has ever got was YOU my dear. You have given me so many happy days and the very least which I could do for you is to give you a very wonderful birthday.

Epiphany

After watching Ice Age and Shrek 2 in recent weeks, I finally realise what it is that made the Singapore Zoo such a boring place to visit.

Animals just aren't the same without a voiceover.
