Truth to be told, I am among the top 14.19% richest people in the world.
And that is only counting my monthly allowance!
I guess we Singaporeans are very fortunate after all. We don't have to worry about poverty, natural disasters, droughts etc... After all, Singapore is well positioned strategically to grow with the rest of Asia. Despite being a tiny country with hardly any natural resources or manpower, we are able to match the big guns like China with our vibrant and open economy. Our multi-cultural society makes it easy for us to immerse ourselves and cross connect in the canvass of a changing Asia.
Its probably fair to say that most Singaporean families are financially stable. Maybe not filthy rich like those Hollywood celebrities you see in Cribs. But we are definitely able to live comfortably.
And despite all our incessant complaints and yakking, things like CPFs and insurance policies do ensure that we are well taken of right through old age.
Thus, maybe it is only right afterall that we should give more to charities isn't it?
Or would you rather watch our beloved Mediacorp artistes performing senseless stunts before donating?
